Winning Lady Beatrice
4 StarsAn act of kindness to a stranger creates a friendship between Beatrice, a vicar’s daughter, and Arabella, a young noble woman. I loved the contrast between the two of them as Beatrice is steady and reserved while Arabella says whatever is on her mind and not worried about the opinions of others. She also is fiercely loyal and points out to Nathaniel, her brother, the error of his ways in regards to his feelings towards Beatrice.

This was not strictly a romance and I thought the mystery and danger that Nathaniel finds himself entrapped was good, adding depth to the story. The forgiveness that he extended to someone who wronged him made me respect him and see that he had the power to do good in spite of what had happened to him.
The side characters of Gabriel and his family were heartwarming. He was a terrific friend to both Beatrice and Nathaniel. I really enjoyed the story, but felt it moved a bit more slowly than the pacing of books that i typically read. This is a kisses only book and is a historical romance.

I really liked the characters and relationships in this story. The close female friendship was lovely, and I especially enjoyed the brother-sister dynamic. Those relationships brought warmth to the book, and I enjoyed spending time with these characters.
The setting was enjoyable, and the mystery element helped keep me engaged throughout the story.
For me, the pacing ran a little long at times, and some moments felt repetitive, which made certain sections drag more than I would have liked. I also had some mixed feelings about the romantic payoff. After such a long buildup, I personally struggled with the hero’s confession happening while he was intoxicated, and the kiss did not quite land for me emotionally the way I had hoped.
As a Regency reader, I also found myself occasionally wishing for a stronger sense of period propriety and atmosphere.
That said, despite some elements not fully working for me, I still enjoyed the reading experience overall. The characters, relationships, setting, and intrigue kept me invested, and I’m glad I gave this one a read.
I received a complimentary e-copy of this book and was under no obligation to leave a positive review.
Winning Lady Beatrice ended up being a bit of a mixed read for me, but there was still plenty I enjoyed. ⭐⭐⭐1/2— @Regency_Fan_ Michelle

I loved this book! It’s a longer book, which always makes me nervous, but it was so good! I loved every moment of it and flew through it! The writing flowed beautifully and was easy to read. Beatrice is a Vicar’s daughter and she goes to stay with her friend, Arabella. Arabella’s brother is an Earl name Nathaniel. I loved Arabella and Nathaniel’s relationship they have such a great brother sister connection! I also loved Arabella and Beatrice’s friendship! Nathaniel and Beatrice are great characters! They have such amazing chemistry and I loved their deep conversations as well as wanting to keep the other safe. Yes there is a dangerous situation happening in this book and a touch of mystery as well. My heart broke for Beatrice especially in this story but also for Nathaniel. He tries to do his duty and also keep Beatrice safe by keeping away from her. Ok enough about that so I don’t spoil anything. Light Christian content. Anyway I thought this was a fantastic story and I definitely recommend!

“This book!! I have been reading a lot of Regency books recently, but this one is probably one of my new favorites!! It’s sweet, funny, and there is a mystery interwoven. And probably the best part, the book had so many twists and turns that I actually could not guess the end! It is very rare for me not to be able to guess the ending of a book within a few chapters. But every time I thought I figured out the ending and that I was close to finishing the book, I would discover I was only 20% of the way through the book, then 32%, then 50%. So much happened, I loved it!! I definitely have a new favorite book and author!! Plus the scene with the green dress😍😍When Beatrice Colburn goes to visit her good friend for a few months, the last thing that Beatrice expects is to end up falling for her friend’s older brother or stumbling into some suspicious behavior by the staff. Beatrice feels like a fish out of water during her stay, and even more so when she joins her friend for a season in London. During her stay, she starts to think that maybe Nathaniel likes her as well, except for the fact that he has an engagement to help him avoid bankruptcy. No matter how hard Nathaniel tries to avoid his feelings for Beatrice and do his duty to marry someone who will keep him and his people financially stable he can’t deny what his heart is saying. When he finally finds a way to be with Beatrice as well as make sure he doesn’t go bankrupt, the only catch is that he has to make sure no one knows of his plan. Nathaniel must keep pushing Beatrice away, but Beatrice isn’t sure how much more of the warm, then icy cold, demeanor of Nathaniel she can take."

“This was a fantastic Regency-era story with a lot of tension from several sources. The romance pulled me in, but the mystery made me stay. I thought about this story even when I wasn't reading. So good.”

Vow of the Heart

While the storyline is interesting there is a lot of repetition in the dialogue. The main characters held my attention while I cheered for Ewan’s kindness and love. Trigger warnings: rape and its resulting pregnancy.

Author Note: Since this review was placed the book has been updated to fix the repetition in the dialogue.

“You're healing. And healing things become stronger in the mended places."

This is the prequel to The Vows of the Heart series. This story has faith, redemption, and choosing love and family.
Moira is brave, strong, and yet deeply wounded. I loved her journey of trusting God even when she didn’t understand and when she felt abandoned. I loved seeing her accept Ewan’s love and trust him at his word. I loved her protective father and the two clans’ acceptance and support. I loved her healing, the gradual process of learning to love in difficult circumstances. Ewan is protective, understanding, and devoted. His love for and patience with Moria was incredible. I loved his protective nature and absolute acceptance and support. I loved his boldness to stand beside Moira and the vows he made to her. I loved their honest, open conversations. Their love story was a journey and the epilogue was so beautiful.
A few more quotes:
"Nothing is impossible when heaven takes an interest. Only difficult."
"This child will be mine. Blood doesn't make a father, Moira. Love does. Choice does. And I'm choosing this child, the same way I chose you."
"Why are you doing this?" "Because I love you." The answer was simple, absolute. "And because hiding helps no one. Least of all you."
Note: FMC is r@ped, vague description on page with a resulting pregnanc

Great novella! Loved the story and characters! There is a sexual assault that results in pregnancy but this is a clean story so the details are very minimal. I loved how Ewan stood by Moira and how strong they both were. Good Christian content included. I recommend!
